ARE YOU USING YOUR ASTHMA INHALER CORRECTLY?
DIGITAL INHALER APPROVED BY FDA
If you’re like a lot of people you may not be using your asthma inhaler properly! You may be employing an incorrect technique, or using the inhaler too often.
Now, one asthma inhaler brand has developed a tool to help you get the right amount of inhaled medication. The FDA recently approved a product called ProAir Digihaler. It’s a digital and mobile connected inhaler – for preventing bronchospasm – that uses built-in sensors to detect and record when the inhaler is used and how strong each inhalation was. This information is sent to Digihaler’s mobile app, where the user can see if he/she’s getting the correct dose of medication. The usage data can be shared with an allergist/asthma specialist to improve medication delivery and help manage the patient’s condition. The ProAir Digihaler is expected to be available on a limited basis in 2019, with a national launch expected in 2020.
